Ruan Benson
Engineer in Training
Studying AD.Eng(Mining) at the University of Central Queensland
Ruan commenced his mining career on a sand mine where he was part of the quality control team in 2015. His aptitude towards mining had him very quickly operating mining equipment obtaining first-hand experience. Further to this, he gained some practical experience in a wash plant. Ruan very quickly identified some substantial gaps within the geological knowledge and implemented a drilling program to increase the resource information, identify clay bands within the sand resource to assist with the dredge operation.
Ruan joined AMP4U in mid-2016 as a part-time engineer in training. He started his own 3D mapping services where he provided services for the Australian Military mapping out roads at the Shoalwater and Canungra bases. Ruan became a full-time employee of AMP4U since 2017 and ever since excelled in the mining engineering space under the supervision within the Company.
Ruan commenced with his studies in 2018, at the University of Central Queensland whilst he was obtaining technical experience through a wide variety of disciplines in the mining sector. Ruan is profound in using technical software such as Spry, Deswik, Minex, Xpac and Surpac.
Of late, Ruan developed a dozer push simulation model where he calculated the dozer push distance for each block and calculated the cut and fill volumes required. This data can also be scheduled and provide a Gantt Chart to the client. Ruan is very familiar with pit optimisations and margin ranking to identify potential pits in the open cut sector. Ruan is also profound at scheduling open-cut and underground operations and applies a practical solution to the project.
